No weekend surcharge appeared on any sampled Saturday, and no date was blocked. The other three properties either raise prices in summer or shut the door on Saturdays. A flat, always-bookable number is the strongest thing a day pass can offer here.

The pass covers a heated zero-entry family pool and an adults-only relaxation pool for guests 18 and over. It also covers a hot tub, beach access, towels, lockers, showers, the fitness center, and food and drink service (ResortPass listing, verified July 2026). Pool hours run 8 AM to dusk. Parking is free.

Two of those details matter more than they look. The zero-entry pool grades in from deck level, so a toddler can wade rather than negotiate steps, and it is the only zero-entry pool among the four properties. Lockers and showers are also listed outright here, which none of the other three listings promise. If you are visiting between a rental checkout and a dinner reservation, that is the difference between a usable day and an awkward one.

The Sonesta sits inside the gated Shipyard community on the south end of the island, which gives it a quieter, more residential feel than the Omni’s Palmetto Dunes setting. The adults-only relaxation pool runs parallel to the family pool. It is not an entrance policy on the whole property, so a couple and a family can split up without leaving.

The Sonesta room math

The Sonesta is the one property here that lets you check the room math on the same platform you buy the pass on. It sells a private day room from $180 for two guests, and a five-day weekly pass from $250 (ResortPass listing, verified July 2026). Against a $70 pass, the day room earns its price only when you need a private room. That means changing, napping a small child, or working for part of the day. The weekly pass pays for itself on the fourth visit, which makes it a real option for a rental week nearby. We did not retrieve an official overnight rate from the resort’s own site, so no overnight comparison is quoted here.

Omni Hilton Head Oceanfront Resort: $100 for three pools and a private beach

The Omni day pass costs $100 for adults and $50 for children on August dates, and it was bookable on every date sampled (ResortPass booking data, verified July 2026). The price is not fixed. One sampled September Saturday came back at $150 for adults, while November and December dates dropped to $75. That is a real spread, so check your own date rather than the headline number.

What the money buys is scale. The pass covers two family pools, an adults-only pool, three hot tubs, a private beach, towel service, and the fitness center (ResortPass listing, verified July 2026). Pool access runs 8 AM to 10 PM, with poolside food and drink service from 11 AM to 8 PM. Fourteen hours is the longest pool window of the four properties. It is also the one number that justifies the premium. A family that arrives at nine and leaves after dark pays roughly $7 per adult hour.

The adults-only pool is a separate 18-and-over zone with its own cabanas and daybeds, rather than a roped-off corner. For a couple who wants a calm pool without giving up the family pools for the kids, that separation is the Omni’s real differentiator against the Sonesta.

Upgrades here are priced for groups and they escalate fast. A daybed at either the family or the adults-only pool runs $325, and a cabana at either pool runs $550 (ResortPass booking data, verified July 2026). A cabana costs more than four adult passes. Book shade only if the shade is the point.

The Omni room math

Four adults at the Omni is $400 before the checkout fee and before a single lunch. Add two children and the number reaches $500. At that level the honest advice is to price a shoulder-season room night at the property before buying, because a family of four is spending real money for a day. We did not retrieve an official overnight rate from the Omni’s own site during this check, so no room figure is quoted here.

The Westin Hilton Head Island Resort and Spa: low prices you often cannot book

The Westin advertises the cheapest day passes on Hilton Head and delivers them least often. Across sampled dates, the pass was bookable on a Sunday at $70 and a Wednesday at $50. Two mid-August dates came back at $60, and September and October dates at $30 (ResortPass booking data, verified July 2026). Every sampled August Saturday was blocked out, each showing a $40 price that could not be purchased. A price on a blocked date is not an offer.

Then the window closes entirely. The resort shuts from November 2, 2026, through April 16, 2027, for a hotel-wide renovation (ResortPass listing, verified July 2026). Sampled November and December dates were already blocked, which matches the notice rather than contradicting it. If the Westin is the target, the date has to be a weekday between now and the end of October.

The pass covers three pools, the hot tub, white sand beach access, bike rentals, and a complimentary fitness class. Pool hours run 9 AM to 5 PM (ResortPass listing, verified July 2026). That eight-hour window is the shortest of the four properties. A $30 weekday here buys fewer hours than the number suggests.

The spa is the genuine reason to choose this property. A separate spa pass starts at $25 and covers the Heavenly Spa saunas, steam rooms, and gender-separate relaxation lounges (ResortPass listing, verified July 2026). Treatments are sold as their own products, including a 50-minute massage with spa pass at $130 and a signature facial with spa pass at $140. Note that the spa pass was blocked on several sampled dates too, so confirm it for your date rather than assuming the pool and spa both open.

Shade here follows the same pattern as the Omni. A reserved lounge chair runs $59 on weekdays and $69 on weekends. A daybed runs $195 to $240, and the oceanfront cabana reaches $700 on a summer weekend (ResortPass booking data, verified July 2026).

Beach House Hilton Head Island: $65 next door to the free beach

Beach House charges $65 for adults and $30 for children. The pass covers a heated beachfront pool, a hot tub, and the Tiki Hut with daily live music (ResortPass listing and booking data, verified July 2026). Pool hours run 8 AM to 9 PM, the Tiki Hut runs 10 AM to 10 PM, and poolside service runs 10 AM to 6 PM. Parking is free.

The complication is where it sits. The property is at 1 South Forest Beach Drive, directly across from Coligny Beach Park, which is the one beach access on the island that still parks you for nothing. Buying this pass is therefore an unusually clean decision. You are paying $65 for a heated pool, a hot tub, live music, and poolside service, because the ocean itself is free 200 feet away.

Availability makes the decision for you on many summer dates anyway. Beach House blocked every sampled August weekend date and one August Friday. It opened on both sampled August Wednesdays and on every sampled date from September through December. Treat it as a shoulder-season and weekday property rather than a July Saturday plan. A poolside cabana runs $150 on quiet dates and $250 on summer weekends when the pass itself is blocked.

The costs that apply at all four resorts

Every ResortPass booking adds a service fee at checkout. The percentage appears during the booking flow rather than in the listing price, so the sticker figures above are pre-fee. Compare checkout totals, not headline numbers, when two properties are close.

Food and drink is pay as you order at all four. Only the Sonesta names food and drink service as part of the pass experience, and even there the items themselves are billed separately. A family planning lunch on property should budget for resort pricing on top of the passes.

Parking is the one hidden cost that is not hidden here. All four listings show free parking for day pass guests, which is a genuine advantage on this island. The town charges $3 per hour on weekdays and $5 per hour on weekends at the paid beach parks. Those rates run 7 AM to 5 PM during the March 1 to September 7 peak season (Town of Hilton Head Island, verified July 2026). Payment is by app, and cash is no longer accepted.

Shade is the largest variable cost of the day. Daybeds start at $195 at the Westin and $325 at the Omni. Cabanas run from $150 at Beach House to $700 for the Westin oceanfront cabana on a summer weekend. At three of the four properties, one cabana costs more than four adult passes. Decide whether you are buying pool access or buying furniture.

Check-in reality: what happens when you arrive

All four properties run the same flow. You go to the main hotel front desk and show the ResortPass confirmation with a photo ID. Staff then point you to the pool or issue a wristband, the same way they would for an overnight guest. The Omni listing states plainly that there are no additional fees at check-in beyond the listed price.

The failure mode on Hilton Head is not the desk, it is the date. Two of the four properties block out peak summer weekends rather than raising the price, and a blocked date can still display a price on the listing. Confirm that your specific date is bookable, not merely listed, before you build a day around it.

Arrival time matters more at the Westin than anywhere else. Pool access there ends at 5 PM, so a late lunch arrival cuts the day in half. The Omni runs until 10 PM and the Sonesta until dusk, which both tolerate a slower start.

The better alternative: Coligny Beach Park costs nothing

Coligny Beach Park has 397 free parking spaces, free overflow parking at the USCB Hospitality Campus, restrooms, and outdoor showers. It is the only public beach park on the island where parking is still free (Town of Hilton Head Island, verified July 2026). Every other beach access, including Driessen and Folly Field, now requires paid parking at the hourly rates above. The free-parking reputation of this island now applies to exactly one lot.

A family of four that wants sand and ocean should spend $0 at Coligny rather than $200 at the Sonesta or $300 at the Omni. The pools earn their price when you want a heated pool in shoulder season, a zero-entry pool for a toddler, chair service, or a spa add-on. They earn nothing at all if the plan was always a towel on the sand.

How to book a Hilton Head resort day pass

One counting note before you shop. The ResortPass Hilton Head Island page lists 30 hotels, but only the first four sit on the island itself. The rest are in Savannah, Charleston, Tybee Island, Jekyll Island, and Amelia Island (ResortPass city page, verified July 2026). Read the property location, not the page headline.

Check the listing the night before if your date is flexible. Weekday dates at the Westin ran as low as $30 per adult in September and October, against $70 on a summer Sunday. The Sonesta is the exception to all of this, since it did not move by date at all.

Cabana and daybed inventory sells out before the passes do on summer weekends, particularly at the Omni. If shade is part of the plan, book it several days ahead rather than on arrival, and check the cancellation terms on the upgrade separately from the pass.

Bring a card for food and drinks. All four properties bill food as you order it, and resort pricing runs well above what the same lunch costs elsewhere on the island.

Check whether your date is blocked before anything else. On this island, availability moves more than price does, and a listed price on a blocked date is not something you can buy.

Pack for the pool hours you actually bought. The Westin closes its pools at 5 PM, Beach House at 9 PM, and the Omni at 10 PM, so the same arrival time produces very different days.

If you are visiting between a rental checkout and a drive home, the Sonesta is the practical pick. It is the only listing of the four that names lockers and showers as part of the pass.

For a spa day at the Westin, book the spa pass or treatment as its own product. The day pass does not include spa access, and the spa pass was blocked on several sampled dates even when the pool pass was open.
