30-second verdict

The Gaylord Texan day pass earns a depends verdict. It is worth it for families visiting during the May-through-September window who want a 10-acre outdoor water park without committing to a full resort stay. Skip it in fall and winter: the water park is closed, and the pass was not bookable on any date we checked. For a weekend family of four, run the room math first: the gap between a Family Day Pass plus fees and a standard room with included water park tickets may be smaller than you expect.

How much does the Gaylord Texan day pass actually cost?

You cannot buy one right now. On October 19, 2026 we checked 125 dates on ResortPass’s booking backend, from October 19, 2026 to August 25, 2027. The day pass, the Family Day Pass, every cabana, and the spa pass were unavailable on all of them.

ResortPass still lists prices on those dates. From October 19, 2026 to April 18, 2027, every Monday to Thursday date listed $50 per adult and $40 per child (ages 4 to 12). Every Friday to Sunday date listed $75 and $65.

The Family Day Pass covers four people. It listed $150 on every weekday date in that span and $250 on every weekend date. From late April 2027 on, every date we checked, weekends included, listed the flat $50 and $40. Treat that as a default listing until booking opens, not a promise of weekday prices on summer weekends.

ResortPass added a 12% fee on every pass booking we checked in October 2026, at other hotels. We could not build a cart here because nothing was bookable. The listing shows an 8.25% tax rate, but we could not confirm whether it also applies to the fee.

Parking is extra for day pass guests. Marriott’s hotel page listed self-parking at $24 to $29 plus tax depending on hours, with $29 as the daily rate (Marriott, May 2026 snapshot). On a weekend, the Family Day Pass, the 12% fee, and parking come to $309 before tax.

Standard room (one night)Check Marriott
We could not pull a live Marriott rate for a 2027 season date. Marriott lists the water park as included for overnight guests. Add the resort fee, room tax, and $29 overnight self-parking.
Weekday Family Day Pass: $150 for four on every Monday to Thursday date we checked, the clearest day-pass value once the season opens.
Weekend family of four: if one night with resort fee and tax lands near $330, the room covers the same park plus a bed. Price your date on Marriott first.

What’s included in the Paradise Springs day pass?

The pass covers the outdoor water park for the day. ResortPass’s product description lists the family lagoon with a walk-in beach and zip line, the lazy river, two hot pools, and four waterslides. Check-in reality: what happens when you arrive with a day pass

You do not check in at the hotel front desk. ResortPass tells day pass guests to bring photo ID, park in the self-parking garage, and catch the complimentary Paradise Springs Shuttle from the hotel’s Tour Lobby. You check in with your ID at the Paradise Springs Pool Concierge Desk (ResortPass listing, checked October 19, 2026).

Cabana guests may park at Paradise Springs itself, one car per cabana or two for the Party Cabana. Everyone else parks at the main garage. Gaylord’s ticket site sells prepaid self-parking for day visitors, valid for a single use on the selected date (checked October 19, 2026). Leaving mid-day and coming back may mean paying again.

The water park is outdoors. In inclement weather, Gaylord Texan security decides whether to close the pools, according to the resort’s pool rules as quoted by visitor guides. On borderline weather days, call the resort before you drive.

The Paradise Springs Pool Bar & Grill is the food stop inside the park. On the schedule ResortPass still posts from an earlier season, the bar opened an hour after the park and closed an hour before it. If you plan to stay to closing, eat before the last hour.

The season is the biggest variable

Paradise Springs is an outdoor water park open seasonally from mid-May through late September. Marriott listed the 2026 season as May 15 to 17, then daily from May 22 to August 16 (Marriott water park page, September 2026 snapshot). It closed with Friday to Sunday dates from August 21 to September 20. On October 19, 2026 the same page said only that the park opens for the 2027 season in May.

Outside that window there is no water park day pass to buy. Marriott says the heated outdoor resort pool and the indoor pool are open year-round. Non-guests reach them only through the Relache Spa Pass + Pool Access, listed at $50 for adults 18 and over, and it was not bookable on any date we checked.

Marriott markets Paradise Springs as an amenity for overnight guests, and its Experiences page lists the water park as included with a stay. In a 2016 TripAdvisor response, the hotel said traditional rooms include four wristbands and suites include six. ResortPass is the route for everyone else, on the dates it is released.

Best for and skip if

Best for
  • DFW families in summer · A 10-acre outdoor water park in Grapevine with a 600-foot lazy river, four waterslides, and two zip lines, open mid-May to late September.
  • Weekday groups of four · The Family Day Pass listed $150 on every Monday to Thursday date we checked. That is $37.50 a person before the 12% fee and tax.
  • Adults who want pools and a steam room · The Relache Spa Pass + Pool Access, listed at $50 for adults 18 and over, covers the indoor and outdoor resort pools, steam room, sauna, and fitness center. It was not bookable on any date we checked.
Skip if
  • Fall and winter visits · The water park closes after its September weekends and reopens in May. There is no outdoor water park day pass to buy in between.
  • Weekend families of four on a tight budget · A weekend Family Day Pass with the fee and parking comes to $309 before tax. Price a room night for the same date before you book.
  • Toddler-focused groups · There is a toddler pool and a water playhouse, but the slides and zip lines carry height restrictions. A toddlers-only group pays for a park it will mostly skip.

The room math: is booking one night cheaper?

For a family of four on a summer weekend, the comparison is worth running explicitly.

Day pass route: the weekend Family Day Pass listed at $250, plus a $30 fee at 12% and $29 parking, comes to $309 before tax. Tax on the pass adds about $21 to $23. Food at the Pool Bar & Grill comes on top, and we have not estimated it.

Room route: we could not pull a live Marriott rate for a 2027 season date, so check Marriott for your dates. Marriott lists the water park as included for overnight guests, and the hotel has said traditional rooms come with four wristbands. Add the resort fee, room tax, and $29 overnight self-parking (Marriott, May 2026 snapshot).

If one night’s all-in total lands near $330, the room wins, because it adds a bed and the resort’s other pools to the same park. If it lands well above that, the day pass is the cheaper way in. Marriott Bonvoy members can also price the night in points.

If the room math does not work, the Gaylord Palms day pass guide covers the Florida sibling, which is useful for comparison if you are evaluating the brand more broadly. There, the slides come only with a room.

The smarter swap

Great Wolf Lodge Grapevine sits about a mile from the Gaylord Texan and sells indoor water park day passes year-round. Full-day passes ran $30 to $35 on weekdays and $60 on Saturdays from October 20 to November 15, 2026 (Great Wolf booking system, checked October 19, 2026). The 80,000-square-foot indoor park is kept at 84 degrees, so it works in the months Paradise Springs is closed. See our Great Wolf Lodge Grapevine day pass guide for the full price breakdown.

What to bring and pro tips

Pack as if you are spending a full day outdoors in the Texas heat. Bring sunscreen, photo ID for check-in, and water shoes for hot pavement.

Day pass seating is first come, first served. On weekends, arrive at opening to get a lounge chair, or add Reserved VIP Pool Seating for a guaranteed one. If you want a cabana, book it at the same time as your day pass, not on the morning of your visit.

The shuttle to the water park leaves from the hotel’s Tour Lobby. Parking at Paradise Springs itself is for cabana guests only.

The Pool Bar & Grill has closed an hour before the park on past schedules. If you plan to stay until closing, eat earlier. The main resort restaurants are back at the hotel.

Check the weather before you drive. The park is outdoors, and security can close the pools in inclement weather.
